The Victorian Government, together with Monash Health, have officially opened the new Monash Children’s Hospital, providing a state of the art medical service to the children and families of Victoria.

ICN Victoria has been working with Downer to maximise local content for the $2.3 billion High Capacity Metro Trains Project.

As part of the process, more than 250 Victorian SMEs attended a series of two briefings in March and April to learn more about contract opportunities for local businesses.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, along with Queensland State Development Minister Dr Anthony Lynham and Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill have announced Watpac as managing contractor to build the $250 million North Queensland Stadium.

The winning tender meets the requirements for maximising local job and training opportunities, including for Indigenous workers.

To achieve its local contact goal, Watpac will use the ICN Gateway to source suppliers for the project. The company has also outlined a plan for more than 80 per cent of hours spent building the stadium to be by locals, and at least 80 per cent of the value of the project to be spent on local subcontractors and suppliers.

In one of the biggest defence spends the country has ever seen, the SEA 5000 Phase 1 Future Frigate Program is part of the Australian Government's plan to update Australia's naval capabilities and create a sustainable naval shipbuilding industry.

The $35 billion program will replace Australia's existing fleet of eight Anzac Class frigates with a new fleet of nine anti-submarine warfare frigates, required to conduct a range of missions, focusing on anti-submarine warfare.

There have been three major projects in the local area: the N2222 Seahawk Romeo Helicopter Facilities project; the JP 9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training Systems Facilities project (HATS); and the N2183 HMAS Albatross Stage 3 Redevelopment project.
