Top End gets Defence boost |

ICN NT is working with the Department of Defence and Laing O’Rourke on a planned $472 million upgrade and redevelopment at Larrakeyah Barracks, and the construction of a new wharf and fuel farm to support naval operations in the Top End.
The scope includes two distinct projects under the one managing contract:
Built in 1932, and with minimal upgrades since, Larrakeyah Barracks is a strategically important base servicing the Royal Australian Navy, Army and Joint Task Force units in the Darwin Area.
The upgrade will address current deficiencies and infrastructure risks while providing for future growth requirement. It includes:
Meanwhile, the aim of the FSNON project is to provide fit for purpose facilities and infrastructure to support visiting Navy, offshore patrol vessels and foreign warships, and includes:
Construction is expected to be completed by 2023.
