Energy efficiency takes centre stage |

The second Energy Efficiency Expo and Seminar was again hosted by ICN SA and the Department for Industry and Skills in Adelaide. Member for Newland, Dr Richard Harvey opened the event, which attracted around 350 delegates and 33 exhibitors. ICN SA’s Bettina Venner, told delegates that the expo was about connecting people with the exhibiting businesses that can help improve energy efficiency and reduce energy bills. “Our lifestyle today is made possible by how we have been able to harness energy, particularly since the Industrial Revolution,” Bettina said. “Yet this has not come without its challenges, including climate change and the need to change our energy mix. “By improving our energy efficiency, we will gain other benefits as well – reduced costs and reduced pollution overall, because it’s not just carbon dioxide that’s emitted from burning fossil fuels to generate energy.” A highlight of this year’s event was a panel session focused on case studies by local businesses that have managed to cut their energy bills, facilitated by Rob Murray Leach from the Energy Efficiency Council.
